Expansion Books
These are books that add more things to the normal game of D&D 5E. They are not all new adventures and campaigns, rather things like extra races, monsters, mechanics, items, etc.
Elemental Evil Player's Companion
The Elemental Evil Player's Companion was a small, free expansion released by Wizards of the Coast. It added 4 new races, being the Aarakocra, Deep Gnome, Genasi, and Goliath.

Mordenkainen's Tomb of Foes
Mordenkainen's Tomb of Foes was an expansion released by Wizards of the Coast. It mainly served to add more creatures to the world, but also had the introduction of one race, the Gith.

Unearthed Arcana was an expansion released by Wizards of the Coast. It was one of the oldest released books for D&D and, to this day, still stands as one of the most controversial in terms of people who use it or not. It includes many various things such as new subraces, monsters, mechanics, etc.

Volo's Guide to Monster's was an expansion released by Wizards of the Coast, and a personal favorite of mine. It introduces quite a lot of new and unique races, and even more monsters.

Xanathar's Guide to Everything introduces a ton of new content for the main classes in D&D, as well as many tools for a GM to use. On top of this, there are some new spells and other random additions.
